Jonah did not want to face the darkness awaiting him in Nineveh, so he tried to flee from Godto the light of Tarshish. We do this in our lives as well, not realizing that He is most visible in our dark places. As we travel through the darkness of Lent, toward the light of the Resurrection, we must remember that He shows His strength when it is most needed.
