“A good man obtains favor from the Lord, but a man of evil devices he condemns. A man is not established by wickedness, but the root of the righteous will never be moved.” — Proverbs 12:2–3 (ESV)
“Ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness.” — Psalm 29:1–2 (ESV)
“The wicked man’s lamp is put out, and his flame goes out. The eye of the adulterer waits for dusk; he thinks, ‘No eye will see me,’ but his guilt will find him.” — Job 20:28–29 (ESV)

Life can feel like a storm sometimes. Maybe it’s drama at school, tension in friendships, or pressure to fit in. Psalm 29 compares God’s voice to a powerful storm that shakes the trees and splits the mountains—but the same God also calms, strengthens, and establishes those who trust Him. Proverbs 12 reminds us that choosing righteousness keeps us grounded, even when chaos surrounds us, while wickedness is unstable and self-destructive. Job 20–21 also shows that shortcuts or selfish schemes might seem to work at first, but they ultimately collapse. You don’t have to be like everyone else chasing quick wins or popularity. God calls you to stand strong in His favor, rooted in His ways, and to rely on His power to face life’s storms.

THINK ABOUT IT
1. Rooted or Shaken? Are there areas in your life where you feel unstable? How can trusting God and choosing righteousness help you stay grounded, like the “root of the righteous” in Proverbs 12:3?
2. Storms Reveal Character: In the storms of life—stress at school, tough friendships, family issues—how does knowing God’s strength and glory in Psalm 29 change the way you respond?
3. Choices Have Consequences: Job’s account shows that wicked ways may seem easy or invisible at first. What decisions are you making right now that could either build you up or tear you down in the long run?

BOTTOM LINE
Choosing God’s ways and trusting His strength keeps you rooted, even when life’s storms blow.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You for being my strength when life feels overwhelming. Help me make choices that honor You and keep me rooted in Your truth. When storms come, remind me that Your power and glory are greater than any challenge I face. Let me stand firm and shine Your light through my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
