“Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue is but for a moment. There is no wisdom, no insight, no counsel against the Lord.” — Proverbs 12:19–20 (ESV)

“I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears.” — Psalm 34:4 (ESV)

“And the Lord was with Judah, and he took possession of the hill country, but he could not drive out the inhabitants of the plains, because they had iron chariots.” — Judges 1:19 (ESV)

Ever scroll through social media and see someone posting something that just doesn’t seem true? Or maybe you’ve felt pressure to exaggerate a story just to fit in. Proverbs 12 reminds us that honesty has lasting power, while lies quickly crumble. Life isn’t always simple—like in Judges 1, even when God’s people were promised victory, they faced obstacles they couldn’t immediately overcome. But here’s the good news: Psalm 34 shows that when we seek God, He is ready to answer and deliver us from our fears, even when life feels uncertain. Truth, courage, and dependence on God are the keys to navigating challenges without giving in to lies or shortcuts.

Being honest isn’t always easy, but it sets you free and builds trust. Choosing truth over what’s convenient helps you face obstacles with integrity and confidence that God’s got your back.

THINK ABOUT IT

1. Honesty Matters: When is it tempting to stretch the truth or hide the facts? How could choosing honesty change the outcome?

2. Trust God in Challenges: Like Judah in Judges 1:19, we might face situations that feel too big for us. How can remembering that God is with us give you courage to keep trying?

3. Seek God First: Psalm 34:4 shows that seeking God brings freedom from fear. What steps can you take to turn to God first when you’re anxious, pressured, or unsure what to do?

BOTTOM LINE

Honesty, trust, and seeking God first give you the courage to face life’s challenges and walk in freedom.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your truth that never fails and for being with me in every challenge I face. Help me to choose honesty even when it’s hard, to trust You when obstacles seem too big, and to seek You first in every decision. Strengthen my courage and guide my steps so I can honor You with my words and actions. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
