JACI: In Practice Editor-in-Chief Michael Schatz describes the March 2023 issue, the theme of which is “Hot Topics in Asthma”. Theme topics covered include health disparities in asthma, the role of lung function in the development of childhood asthma, mechanistic studies that help to define clinical asthma phenotypes and endotypes in children, and factors to consider when prescribing biologics to children with asthma. In addition, three new asthma management paradigms are discussed: a proactive predict and prevent approach, treatable traits, and using inhaled corticosteroids as part of rescue therapy.
