“No harm befalls the righteous, but the wicked are filled with trouble. Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who act faithfully are his delight.” — Proverbs 12:21–22 (ESV)
“And the people of Israel did what was evil in the sight of the Lord and served the Baals and the Ashtaroth.” — Judges 2:11 (ESV)

Have you ever been tempted to tell a little lie to avoid getting into trouble, or maybe exaggerated the truth just to impress your friends? It might seem harmless in the moment, but Proverbs 12 reminds us that dishonesty brings trouble, while faithfulness and truth bring delight to God. In Judges 2, we see what happens when a whole nation turns away from God—they stumble, face consequences, and suffer cycles of chaos. The good news is, choosing truth and faithfulness now sets you up for stability and peace later, even when the world around you seems to reward shortcuts and deceit. Living honestly doesn’t always make life easy, but it keeps your heart aligned with God and builds trust with the people around you.
