What does true humility look like in the life of a believer?
In week nine of our series through the Gospel of John, Lead Pastor Dr. Scott Hood returns to the ministry of John the Baptist. When John's followers become concerned that Jesus is drawing larger crowds, John doesn't get defensive or jealous. Instead, his response provides a profound masterclass in finding joy in taking a back seat to the Savior.
This week, we look at the posture we are called to hold as believers through five main points:
Do Life (v.22-24): The simple but essential reality of spending time together and walking faithfully in everyday ministry.
Have Meaningful Conversations (v.25-27): Engaging in dialogue that matters and recognizing that every good thing we have is a gift received from heaven.
Know Your Role (v.28-30): Finding true joy not in being the center of attention, but in celebrating the Bridegroom. He must increase, and we must decrease.
Understand Jesus' Superiority (v.31-35): Acknowledging that the One who comes from above is above all and speaks the very words of God.
Preach the Gospel and Die (v.36): The ultimate, sobering calling of our lives: declaring that eternal life is found only in believing the Son.
