“Anxiety in a man's heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad.” — Proverbs 12:25
“Contend, O Lord, with those who contend with me; fight against those who fight against me!” — Psalm 35:1
“And God said to him, ‘Your name is Jacob; no longer shall your name be called Jacob, but Israel shall be your name.’ So he called his name Israel.” — Genesis 35:10

Some days feel heavy. Anxiety creeps in like a thick fog—about school, friendships, your future, or even your faith. Proverbs 12:25 reminds us how those anxious feelings can weigh us down, but also how encouragement—“a good word”—can lift us back up. David understood this in Psalm 35 when he cried out for God to fight on his behalf.
And in Genesis 35, we see Jacob going through a major identity change—God reminding him that he is no longer the deceiver, but Israel, the one who wrestled with God and prevailed. In the middle of our worries and battles, God steps in to give us not only strength, but a new name and a renewed purpose.

THINK ABOUT IT
1. Anxiety is real, but so is God's presence: What weighs your heart down right now? Have you talked to God about it, or let someone speak encouragement into your situation?
2. God fights for you: David asked God to fight against those who fought him. What “battles” are you facing right now—internal or external—and how can you let God take the lead?
3. You are not who you used to be: Just like God renamed Jacob, He gives us new identity in Him. Are you living out of your past labels, or stepping into the name and future God has for you?

BOTTOM LINE
When anxiety weighs you down, remember that God sees, God speaks, and God strengthens. Let Him fight your battles and remind you who you really are.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, You know the things that weigh on my heart even before I say a word. Thank You for caring about my worries and reminding me of who I am in You. Help me trust that You’re fighting for me, even when I feel overwhelmed. Speak Your truth over my life and replace my anxiety with peace and purpose. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
