Although I hope to come to you soon, I am writing you these instructions so that, 15 if I am delayed, you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God’s household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth.16 Beyond all question, the mystery from which true godliness springs is great: He appeared in the flesh, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory.         1 Timothy 3:14-16

The Church is to live as the Family of God

Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household.        Ephesians 2:19

The Church is to Live as the church of the living God

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.          Hebrews 10:24-25

The Church is to live as a pillar and foundation of truth

Whoever has ears, let them hear.       Matthew 13:9

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.          2 Timothy 2:15

I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.        Psalm 119:11

…as you hold firmly to the word of life.        Philippians 2:16

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. James 1:22

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”           Matthew 28:18-20

The Church is to Preach a Specific Message

 23 but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles…      1 Corinthians 1:23

For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.          1 Corinthians 2:2

For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake.           2 Corinthians 4:5
