Welcome to the Rise and Walk podcast, where we dive into daily Bible devotions to inspire and guide you on your spiritual journey. In today's episode, we'll cover Jesus completing his mission by fulfilling scripture, expressing thirst, and declaring "It is finished" while drinking wine. On this solemn and sacred day, we gather to observe Good Friday, a time of reflection and reverence in the Christian faith. Good Friday marks the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, the pivotal event that lies at the heart of Christianity. It is a day of deep contemplation, as we remember the immense sacrifice made by Jesus for the redemption of humanity. As we enter into this day of remembrance, we are invited to journey with Jesus through his final moments on earth, to stand at the foot of the cross, and to witness the profound love and mercy poured out for all mankind. It is a day of humility, as we acknowledge our own brokenness and sinfulness, recognizing the depth of God's love in the midst of our imperfection. Good Friday is a time to pause, to meditate on the significance of Christ's sacrifice, and to open our hearts to the transformative power of his death and resurrection. It is a day of mourning and yet also a day of hope, as we anticipate the joy of Easter Sunday, when Christ triumphs over death and offers us the promise of eternal life. As we gather in prayer and reflection on this Good Friday, may we be drawn closer to the heart of Jesus, may we be filled with gratitude for his boundless love, and may we be inspired to live our lives in faithful service to him who gave everything for us. Today's Bible passage is from John chapter 19 verses 28 to 30 After this, aware that everything was now finished, in order that the scripture might be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I thirst.” There was a vessel filled with common wine. So they put a sponge soaked in wine on a sprig of hyssop and put it up to his mouth. When Jesus had taken the wine, he said, “It is finished.” And bowing his head, he handed over the spirit. that's John chapter 19, verses 28 to 30 - let's dig in.
