“One gives freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want. Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.” — Proverbs 11:24–25 (ESV)
“Prove me, O Lord, and try me; test my heart and my mind. For your steadfast love is before my eyes, and I walk in your faithfulness.” — Psalm 26:2–3 (ESV)
“Remember that my life is a breath; my eye will never again see good.” — Job 7:7 (ESV)

Have you ever had one of those days where nothing seems to go right? Maybe you studied hard but failed the test, lost a friendship you cared about, or just felt like nobody noticed you. In Job 6–7, Job felt like his life was falling apart—so much so that he wondered if anything good would ever come again. Maybe you’ve been there too.
But then there’s Proverbs 11, reminding us that generosity and kindness often bring blessing even when life feels dry. And in Psalm 26, David talks about walking in God’s faithfulness even when life feels shaky. Together, these passages remind us that when life feels empty, giving, trusting, and staying close to God can bring a sense of purpose and hope that nothing else can.

THINK ABOUT IT
1. When Life Hurts: Job was honest with God about his pain. Do you feel free to talk to God about your struggles, or do you hold back? What might change if you shared everything with Him—even the hard stuff?
2. The Power of Generosity: Proverbs says those who “water” others will be “watered” themselves. How could helping someone else bring joy or healing even when you’re feeling low?
3. God’s Faithfulness: David said he kept God’s love “before my eyes” (Psalm 26:3). What’s one way you can remind yourself of God’s love every day—maybe through music, prayer, or reading Scripture?

BOTTOM LINE
When life feels empty, stay generous, stay honest with God, and keep walking in His faithfulness—He hasn’t left you.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You for being with me even on the days when life feels heavy and confusing. Help me to trust Your faithfulness, to be honest with You about my struggles, and to keep showing love and generosity even when I feel empty inside. Fill my heart with hope and remind me that You are always near. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
