Amazing grace -- how sweet the sound -- that saved a wretch like me!

I once was lost, but now am found, was blind but now I see.

The poet who wrote this popular hymn had good eyesight. So do most of the believers who sing it. So why such words? Because the very Person who once gave physical sight to those who were physically blind keeps doing something even more amazing and enduring. He steps into the blindness of those who were unable to see the way out of their own troubles, sorrows, and sins, and he shows us the light of his saving goodness.

Jesus Christ is the Light of the world. Many people remain blind to what he has done. But for those to whom he gives the eyes of faith, his salvation is “amazing grace” that’s always worth singing about.
