Marcus Eaton (b. Pocatello, Idaho) is an acclaimed American singer-songwriter, guitarist, producer, and composer whose work is distinguished by its technical mastery, emotional depth, and wide-ranging musical sensibilities. Rooted in the musical upbringing provided by his father, a singer-songwriter whose work shaped Eaton’s earliest artistic instincts, his style synthesizes the percussive clarity of flamenco, the intricacy of fingerstyle guitar, and the improvisational language often associated with jazz, all refracted through his own modern lens. A virtuosic performer, Eaton is renowned for his innovative use of looping to create immersive, orchestral layers in real time.
A defining chapter of Eaton’s career was his collaboration with the late David Crosby. Eaton co-wrote several songs for Crosby’s 2014 album Croz and contributed both guitar and harmony vocals to the recordings. He also joined Crosby for the album’s accompanying tour and continued to perform with him for a number of concerts in the years that followed. He later composed and produced the score for the Grammy-nominated documentary David Crosby: Remember My Name, becoming one of Crosby’s closest creative partners during the artist’s final decade.
In 2024, Eaton contributed his guitar work to the film score for The Book of Clarence, expanding his presence in cinematic composition. His most recent projects include producing and performing on Stephen Bishop’s final studio album (2025), a landmark recording featuring guest artists such as Eric Clapton, Sting, Kenny Loggins, Michael McDonald, Art Garfunkel, Jimmy Webb, and Graham Nash, and completing his own forthcoming solo album, What Is Real.
Throughout his career, Eaton has appeared on stages with a diverse range of artists including Derek Trucks, Seal, Bob Dylan, Flea, Rodrigo y Gabriela, and Victor Wooten, underscoring the breadth of his presence across diverse musical landscapes.
