The name Margaret Hamilton may or may not be familiar to you.  But she was an amazing talent who appeared in 72 movies during a Hollywood career that ran from 1933 to 1972 ---- and in 42 made-for-television movies or situation-comedies that ran from 1950 to 1982.

Now, let’s see, from 1933 to 1982 – that’s 49 years of theatrical success – more staying-power than perhaps 95% of her fellow thespians – making her one of Hollywood’s most enduring actresses.

And – should the name of the character of her best-known role be mentioned – you will immediately connect the character with the name of the movie that launched her career – aboard a most unusual mode of transportation – a broom – in a place known only as the “Emerald City” and into the hearts of children of all ages.
