Maria Butina, 29, a Russian citizen residing in Washington D.C., was arrested on July 15, 2018, in Washington, D.C. According to the affidavit filed by the FBI, from as early as 2015 and continuing through at least February 2017, Butina worked at the direction of a high-level official in the Russian government. In other words, a Russian spy on American soil.
This episode is the narration of the FBI's affidavit which tells the story of Butina's alleged espionage, for which she later pled guilty and was sentenced to 18 months.
