Addictive story
A sweet love story with glimpses into Royal life in France. Good reading.
I especially enjoyed descriptions of the locale and villas.
An emotional rollercoaster.
Very entertaining with lots of plot twists. Andre and Marielle go through realistic turmoil, both physically and emotionally.
the writing is good, very solid storytelling
This was currently free on Kindle so I picked it up being a devotee of romantic fiction. First off, the writing is good, very solid storytelling. The characters are believable and the plot moves along with occasional drags from the historic detail. However, be warned, this heroine is definitely not a modern one. What she is subjected to and sadly, what she allows herself to be subjected to is tough stuff. She suffers humiliation, pain, abuse and not just from the big bad guy, from the hero. It's not nice. Triggers aplenty for survivors of sexual violence. I did not enjoy reading those bits and it ticked me off when she got together with the hero and he blamed her for her suffering, mistrusted her, and was downright cruel. The majority of the book is a big misunderstanding and as a reader, that was annoying. All she had to do was to tell him the truth and she wouldn't. Also, this guy... he's no hero. He's a womanizer and a total jerk; a big boy in a man's body. The later books of the series feature him and seemingly focus on how all women want him. If you like old-school romance this is probably okay, but if you're used to strong heroines and men who don't suck - pass.
Tapestry romance #1!
