Marina with Kenya

Listen Later

In this episode, host Marina interviews Kenya, her dad who had immigrated from Japan at the age of 18.

Kenya recounts his journey to the U.S., detailing why he left Japan to study at a university in America. He describes how he was treated differently when he first came to the U.S, and how he adjusted to American culture. Kenya talks about the impact his immigration to the U.S had on his family back in Japan. He shares how he eventually found his local community, and came to know California as his home. Kenya recounts the opportunities that living in America gave him, and how he grew to be the person he is today.
