This passage starts with a rich, powerful, religious, and genuinely good guy asking Jesus “How do I get into the kingdom?” After exposing his idol of wealth and station, Jesus lets him walk away sad. Now, he turns to the disciples to warn them about the allure of wealth, as well as explaining to the dumbstruck disciples the upside down nature of how his kingdom works.
