* Christ’s comments go back to Genesis 2 where Moses gives the creation account.
* He went back to first principles when talking about the importance of marriage.
* It was all about relationship - the “state of being connected.”
* God separated what was once one so they could connect as one by choice.
* This ushered in “relationship” with a co-equal which is the full image of God.
* “For this reason” - because they were separated, a man now has to choose to leave his former connections for this new connection with his bride.
* The two become one, which is the most organic form of church.
* God is the author of this connection - the two becoming one.
* Problem - man should not seek to separate what God has joined together.
* Nothing can dissolve that unity, that oneness that’s created through physical union.
* Divorce seeks to separate something that can’t be separated.
* Christ’s response to divorce - man shouldn’t seek to separate what God joins together.
