Mark 9:2-13 | Glory Revealed from CrossPointe Coast on Vimeo.

Preacher: Jeremiah Fyffe

Scripture: Mark 9:2-13

  1. GLORY REVEALED
  2. MOSES AND ELIJAH
  3. THE CLOUD AND THE VOICE
  4. TELL NO ONE
  5. ELIJAH MUST COME
  6. 2 Corinthians 3:18

And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.

    Malachi 4:4–5

Remember the law of my servant Moses, the statutes and rules that I commanded him at Horeb for all Israel.
Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and awesome day of the Lord comes.

    Luke 9:30–31

And behold, two men were talking with him, Moses and Elijah, who appeared in glory and spoke of his departure, which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.

    2 Corinthians 4:6

For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

    2 Peter 1:16–18

For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. For when he received honor and glory from God the Father, and the voice was borne to him by the Majestic Glory, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased,” we ourselves heard this very voice borne from heaven, for we were with him on the holy mountain.

    Deuteronomy 18:15

The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your brothers—it is to him you shall listen—

    James Edwards

[Jesus’ instruction to tell no one] reinforces that the cross and resurrection are the only vantage point from which Jesus’ life and ministry can be understood according to their divine purpose, and that until the cross and resurrection all other knowledge of Jesus is inadequate and peripheral.

    James Edwards

Once again Mark reminds readers that disciples are not in fellowship with Jesus because of their knowledge, virtue, or abilities. They are in fellowship solely because of Jesus’ sovereign call, and they remain in fellowship only because of his faithfulness to them.

    Malachi 4:5

Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and awesome day of the Lord comes.
