This week on Wellbeing, we talk with Mark Bell, a once high-level alcohol user who is challenging the way we approach addiction recovery. Mark says that more traditional approaches to recovery have the tendency “tell people what’s wrong with them” instead of asking how the person feels. Mark currently works for Smart Recovery in program support. In this episode, Mark talks about alcohol culture, the stigma towards those with alcohol problems, and reframing how we see alcohol use disorder and recovery. Tune in next week to hear our last episode in our alcohol use disorder series where we talk with members from Alcoholics Anonymous.
We would love to hear from you! If you would like to suggest topics, give us feedback, or just say hi, you can contact us on [email protected].
