Every Friday morning, Mike Hosking takes you through the big ticket items of the week and lets you know what he makes of it all.
Here's a taste of what he reckons.
Cycleways.
8/10. Not really. 2/10.
"Congratulations Auckland Transport on the Grey Lynn cycleway. Four million bucks for a facility only six people used in an hour on a sunny day according to the Herald time lapse camera.
So what to do? That’s right, rip it up! I know its only a year old, but rip it up and replace it with a $23 million cycleway.
Just wait for the local shops to go out of business, brilliant.
Have you thought of re-jigging the bus service so you can completely bugger the place?"
Simon Bridges.
3/10.
"Boy oh boy talk about taking a minor issue and turning it into the Profumo Affair.
He's bumbling everything and looks rattled."
New Zealand First and its values bill.
6/10.
"If for no other reason than its tapping into an international movement. People fear for their sovereignty.
Britain did the same this week, and it was welcomed."
R&D Tax Credits.
7/10.
"This is a tangible example of the government listening to business.
A 15 percent tax credit not 12 and a half percent, and a lower spend to qualify.
Bouquets where bouquets are due."
Countdown and the plastic straws.
4/10.
"Virtue signalling at its worst.
Why are you still delivering my groceries in plastic bags. Why are your veges and fruit wrapped in plastic?"
Issac Luke.
7/10.
"He's signed on the dotted line, he's been a revelation. So good on the Warriors for securing him for another year.
And this is why next year is our year."
