At the heart of the Law stands the Mountain, and atop that Mountain is YHWH, Himself. The Lord is the heart of the law, even as it reveals who He is, a God of perfect righteousness and power, a good and holy God. He is there, and we are at its base, His humble servants whose hearts are ready to receive and hands ready to apply the law of God. God remains there and it is not mere tablets we come, but a Living and Personal God. The call then is to worship, to adore, to obey a God who is known for all eternity and longs to make Himself known to us, not in a remote and terrifying way, but a fatherly and personal way. It is in Deuteronomy 6 where we find the Triune Lord revealed who He is and how His own character calls us to love and obedience.
