In the final episode of season 1, Michael and Joseph moved to opposite sides of the table and discussed key messages from Season 1. Season one guests included VCs, a lawyer, an entrepreneur, a family officer, and other Israel success stories. The conversations were unique with each guest bringing unique insights to how they have navigated and succeeded in the local market. There were also several key areas of agreement even as success was achieved in various ways. What stood out most during the season, which was recorded from March – July 2025 as Israel went through several challenging phases of the war, was that despite the headlines there is significant room for optimism across the spectrum of the Israeli business community. Local and International investors are looking forward to better days, and local entrepreneurs have demonstrated significant and admirable degrees of resilience and flexibility during this period of uncertainty. In this episode we adjusted our mandate slightly and hosted our first non-Israeli guest. Though in truth, Ben Reitzes Head of Technology Research at Melius Research, is certainly Israeli adjacent and we were happy to capitalize on his being in Israel.

In this episode we speak with Chaim Friedland. Chaim is a leading M&A attorney who has been practicing at Gornitzky since 2006. Chaim has broad deal experience across all sectors of the economy and his thoughts on the local market provided us with new insights.

David Schwartz represents an important part of the Israeli business landscape – a senior decision maker of a mega global company that proactively build a presence in Israel. David’s description of how he jumped into the Israeli startup eco-system to help improve operations in the Pepsico provides a different perspective on the impact startups are having behind the scenes.

In this episode we discuss building a global software platform with founder and entrepreneur Omri Dekalo. Ubeya, listen to episode to uncover what it means, is an AI driven platform in temporary workforce management. This application will also become clear as you listen.

Omri is a seasoned entrepreneur with a background in accounting and software. In short, he speaks the language of business and the language of tech and his perspective comes in part from his ability to converse fluently in both worlds.

Our conversation covers much ground, and the retool the company did during Covid as events disappeared entirely and the support from investors as this occurred is an interesting lesson in business building. Omri’s approach to work form home is also worth hearing given the companies focus on staffing.

While we were not able to get Nicole Priel her next move, we did have a lively conversation that touched on investing in multiple asset classes from private to public markets. We covered the significantly personal relationships that develop between VC and founders that need to be balanced when making tough decisions about follow on investments.

Nicole has great marketing instincts, and she expounds on her view that her main role when she sits on boards is helping companies reach strong commercialization with great technology. Her view that in the end “everyone is a salesperson” rings true to us and her confidence that Israel will produce a $100 billion company is just a matter of time is certainly encouraging. She is very bullish on B2C, so listen carefully.
