Marketers Managing Ep. 1: Anh Nguyen on Collaboration, Community & Referrals at Content Marketing World 2026
At Content Marketing World 2026 in Denver, host Rachel Moore launches the first interview of the Marketers Managing miniseries (from the Marketers Barely Managing podcast) with longtime friend Anh Nguyen, Chief Brand Amplifier at Amplified Marketing.
Anh, a 25+ year marketing veteran and 11+ year business owner, discusses why she views other marketers as collaborators rather than competitors and how community and referrals have driven her business.
She shares a negative experience with the Good Neighbor podcast in the Dallas area, where she was turned away for being in marketing after the host failed to review her information, calling the approach unprofessional and shortsighted.
The conversation highlights networking, specialization in marketing, and the value of mentorship and community at Content Marketing World, plus Anh’s plans to explore data insights and AI sessions and where to connect with her on LinkedIn.

Rachel opens this special Monday with a song for event pros, because she's recording from the trade show floor at Content Marketing World in Denver, running her own booth with a mobile podcast studio and a stack of executive interviews. Running a booth herself has given her a whole new level of awe for event marketers and planners, the people juggling contracts, vendors, lead gen apps, shipping, electricity, branding, and messaging, often on their feet for 14-hour days. She shouts out two event pros who helped her pull it all together, Rachel Ring and Jessica Connolly, and invites any event marketer at the show to stop by the booth for their 15 minutes of fame. It's also the start of her "odes to different types of marketers," plus a tease for a mini-series of interviews recorded live from Content Marketing World this week.

Rachel poses a bit of a hot take this week: should social media people know graphic design?
She traces her own path from FreeHand tutorials at a church job (yes, that's aging her, her words) through clip art manipulation in Microsoft Office, all the way to getting "set loose" on Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator, and how that design eye ended up being the edge that got her into marketing in the first place. Her answer is yes, at least a little, but she makes the case for social folks and design teams working together instead of in silos, with designers building on-brand templates that social can customize without starting from scratch every time. She fully expects some pushback on this one and wants to hear from social media pros who don't know a lick of design and are doing just fine.

Rachel goes deep on brand style guides this week, the "bible" every marketer needs and so few actually build. She talks through why you should know your brand's hex codes by heart (sticky note method fully endorsed), plus a shoutout to ColorZilla for eyedropper-grabbing colors and Adobe Libraries for teams who insist on working in silos when they don't have to.
She also makes the case for documenting your brand style, logo usage, tone, the works, so your team (or your assistant) isn't guessing, and admits that marketing herself is the one place she still struggles to take her own advice.
Bonus: an Oxford comma hot take, and a heads-up that she'll be recording a special series live from Content Marketing World, October 5-7.

Rachel takes on the classic "you're in marketing, do something" ask this week, the one where a loved one keeps her in their back pocket as a threat to whip out on customer service reps. Cue her husband, who goes in hot on every call and, when all else fails, drops the "my wife works in social media" card (spoiler: it doesn't work, and it never has). Rachel breaks down why the tag-a-brand-and-watch-them-scramble era is basically over now that social is fragmented across a dozen platforms, and makes the case for remembering the human on the other end of that handle, a marketing person with zero power over billing, refunds, or policy.
Plus: a toast to every marketer who's been used as a leverage tactic by someone who still can't explain what you actually do for a living.

Rachel takes on email marketing this week — and she's not shy about it: she's not a fan of receiving it, even though she knows exactly how to run a campaign. She draws a hard line between scraping or buying email lists (don't) and the real, opted-in exchange that makes email marketing worth doing in the first place. From there, she makes her case for SMS and WhatsApp messaging as the channels marketers are sleeping on — pointing to open rates north of 90% and the discipline that comes from having to write short and sharp. Plus: a listener poll heading to the WhatsApp community, and why you should really just text her instead of leaving a voicemail.
