Before COVID-19 hit, money was flowing and bad marketing was easy to forgive.
Social media marketers didn't have to show results in money returned on ad spend. They could get away with showing off their "Likes" and ReTweets. "New Metrics," they called it.
Another trend we saw in marketing was the introduction of social issues into a business's branding campaigns. You may recall the "Men Should Do Better" ad from Gillette?
But, will this kind of marketing still be popular as we adjust to the new economy left by our reaction to COVID-19? I say, the answer is no, and I'm already seeing proof of it.
