Marlins Sign Morel to First Base

Listen Later

The Miami Marlins have signed Christopher Morel, a 26-year-old utility player, to a one-year contract to play first base. Morel, who has hit 74 home runs and driven in 210 runs in his four-year career, had a strong 2023 season with the Cubs, batting .247 with 26 home runs and 70 RBIs. The Marlins hope hitting coach Pedro Guerrero can help Morel develop his offensive game, despite his inconsistencies and lack of experience at first base.
