Bill and Melinda Gates announced, yesterday, May 3, that they are ending their marriage of 27 years. In 2019, the Bezos' did the same thing.
I think the Gates' is such a shocker because they have always exhibited such a united front that no one would have expected such an announcement. They said they no longer believe they can grow together and that's saying a lot. How much more growing is needed at the ages 65, 56 with 27 years of marriage? Volumes.
So, I coined this era as "The Age of Choice"; in this new age, people don't have the patience and don't feel they have to or need to put up anything that does not work for them. The tone is more about self-preservation than the benefit or greater good of all. Are people wrong for taking that stance? I don't know.
Sad to see a great union, from all appearances, come to an end, I just hope it isn't due to salacious discoveries (well, I mean, if it is, I get it but jeez)!
