Marriage is not primarily a human institution to be managed. It is God's gift to the believer for experiencing the oneness of God in the physicality of man.
This teaching opens the first part of a series on marriage within the Pray Pray series, where the nature of prayer as the bride of Christ comes into focus. Before sons can understand what it means to pray from the position of a bride, they must first understand what marriage actually is. The teaching works through two foundations: that marriage is meant to remind you of the Father's love and the oneness of the Trinity, and that love begins in the heart but is maintained by the head. Being constantly committed and continually content is not a feeling. It is a daily, moment-by-moment choice, because the failure to love in a given moment is the beginning of eventual separation. Position, access, rights, and heritage belong to a bride, and those realities directly shape how a son approaches God in prayer.
SCRIPTURE: Genesis, John 17
SERIES: Pray Pray. A multi-part series tracing the nature, posture, and access points of prayer, including what it means to stand before God as the bride of Christ.
