A former left-brained international economist and stressed out mom, Brettschneider transformed into a meditation-touting creative finally at peace with the world. Her debut book, Blooming into Mindfulness: How the Universe Used a Garden, Cancer, and Carpools to Teach Me That Calm Is the New Happy, chronicles that journey. She lives in Vienna, Virginia, with her husband, two sons, and her plant-eating golden retriever Apollo (who has taught her the art of letting go).
