#362 - Do you have a trail that you absolutely love but you don't want to tell others about it? Maybe it's one that's quieter than the more popular ones, maybe it's a bit out of the way or not as well-known. Or maybe there's a very popular trail or running route nearby that most runners choose over your secret route. I have a couple of these and this week, I tell you one of mine. It's next to a very popular running route in San Francisco, yet few runners use it. And it's their loss. I hope you enjoy this one and that it inspires to find a secret running route or trail of your own!

#361 - Last week, I gave some great options for easy to buy, not-too-expensive running gifts for the runners in your life, including yourself! This week, I'm asking Santa for a few running related gifts. Some of them might be hard for him to fit in his sleigh, but I'm asking anyway. I'm not asking for a ton of things, but there are some. I'm not asking for anything I can't buy for myself, so they might be a little difficult to bring to me. But, Santa is magic, right? There's no harm in asking. 

I know the holiday season is difficult for many of us. If you're feeling a little down, go for a run, even a short one and you may feel better, at least for the time you're out running. Running won't solve all our problems, but at least it gives us a few moments to ourselves to think about something else.

#359 - Rob Sembiante has attempted and finished race distances that many of us wouldn't even think about starting. He counts Antarctica, the Dolomites and 300 miles through the Utah wildlands as three of his toughest. He joins mem this week to talk about them, as well as the established race he's taking over next year, the Bootleg Boogie. He'll talk about why he's starting this new challenge and what changes are being made. It's a great race and Rob will only make it better.

#357 - There may be a time when something happens in our lives that completely upends our running plans. Maybe we have a serious injury or we lose our job or we go through a divorce. Whatever life-changing event it is, there are ways we can handle it that may help us to get through and still see that small light ahead. Not all is lost! Have faith. In my past, I have not always handled big changes the best, and I've had to learn how to manage them in better, more productive manners. Changes happen, we can't stop them from taking place, but we can work to make sure that these changes don't completely hurt our lives. And, in those rare times that the changes are so great there is not much we can do, we still need to remember that small light in the distance. It's there and it will always be there.

#356 - On Veterans Day, I thought it was about time I give thanks to those to are willing to give the ultimate sacrifice so that we can live our lives and run our races. I give lots of veteran organizations that can help veterans and those who want to support vets, as well as races that we can participate in to help out. There's plenty of information this week for us to do what we can. 

Also, don't miss my update on the show website and what is going to happen next year as I plan for my upcoming retirement.

#355 - It's THAT time of year! Daylight Savings Time just ended and sure, we got an extra hour of sleep this past weekend, but with that, the sunlight lessens each day until late December and the likelihood of us running in the dark grows. I did an episode on running in the dark a few years ago, but I thought it was a good time to do another one and cover a few points I didn't and maybe help each one of us remember some things. I need a reminder too! There was one website that was very helpful for me and I've included their link on my website. But the gear I mentioned was way too numerous for me to include links. They should be easy to find on Amazon, REI or your favorite running or sporting goods store. Just use caution, be visible and trust your instincts! And have fun!

#353 - Every runner at some moment gets bored with our training. Maybe we're running the same routes, maybe we feel like nothing is ever changing, maybe we just feel "blah" when we head out for a run. I did an earlier episode how to make running more exciting if we get the Blahs, but this week, I'm focusing on one small part of that previous episode by giving you suggestions how to turn your training runs into "fun runs". It's not hard and may bring a new spark to your training! The medal in the picture is from a virtual race I did in 2020! 

I also have a website and app I want to suggest to help you plot out your running routes. I have no association with either of them, I just like them better than the others I've tried.
