A new survey claims there's a power imbalance between tenants and their property managers or landlords.
Consumer New Zealand says 65 percent of tenants it's surveyed, aren't satisfied with the service from their property managers but are scared of complaining.
Managing Director of City Sales Martin Dunn told Mike Hosking the imbalance is untrue and if anything tenants are favoured.
But he says problems can come from tenants dealing with unlicensed property managers as there aren't as many safety back-ups.
"There's no law requiring that you be a licensed real estate agent to manage property so I think that's really an area where tenants really are a little bit vulnerable."
