Hopes a new plan from the Retirement Commissioner will get more people contributing to KiwiSaver. .
The idea is for a fund contribution scheme working alongside KiwiSaver that would allow people to access their money in emergencies.
Personal finance expert, Mary Holm, told Mike Hosking this could lure back more than half a million kiwis who aren't contributing to their KiwiSaver accounts.
"They've stopped putting money in presumably because they have got other financial problems. This is way to keep them on board and keep them putting money into something."
