Democratic Alliance member and Mayor in the city of Johannesburg, Herman Mashaba says that housing in the city will be fast tracked for South African citizens but not for foreign nationals. This follows the occupying of a dilapidated building in Jeppe street. Mashaba says providing housing for everyone is the responsibility of national government and his municipality will not accommodate legal and illegal foreigners. Lawyer for Human Rights, Tarisai Mugunyai says the right to housing is enshrined in the Constitution for all citizens regardless of nationality.
