Dr Ivor Sarakinsky of the Wits school of governance has compared Johannesburg mayor Herman Mashaba's sentiments on foreigners to those of US President Donald Trump. Lawyers for Human Rights have slammed him for saying foreigners are not the responsibility of the city but rather of national government. This follows the evictions of residents occupying a dilapidated building in Jeppe street.
