In this episode, I sit down with Chris Grant and Saul (@SaulSellsStuff) to break down the realities of building a successful Amazon reselling business and what it actually takes to win in the world of online arbitrage.


Chris has been selling on Amazon since 2011, experimenting with multiple business models including thrifting, retail arbitrage, and online arbitrage. Along the way, he began documenting everything he learned, which eventually led to the creation of the OA Challenge — a program designed to help new sellers understand the real mechanics of reselling on Amazon. Chris is passionate about helping others succeed and believes education plays a huge role in building a sustainable business.


Saul’s journey started in 2018 when he began thrifting used books and flipping them online. Over time, his business evolved into something much bigger, including Amazon flips, a direct-to-consumer brand, and even a 3PL service. Saul describes himself as someone who enjoys building multiple ventures at once and credits much of his learning to helping others navigate the same challenges he faced.


One of the biggest topics we unpack in this conversation is motivation. Saul explains that while many people dream about succeeding in e-commerce, only a very small percentage actually take action. It’s easy to imagine the lifestyle and success that comes with entrepreneurship, but the reality is that building a business requires consistent effort and discipline.


Chris expands on this idea by talking about the difference between intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. Chasing external rewards alone often isn’t enough to push through the difficult seasons of entrepreneurship. Instead, long-term success usually comes from a deeper internal drive — the willingness to stay committed even when the work becomes uncomfortable.


We also dive into what it looks like to scale a reselling business. Chris shares that one of the best ways to grow is by studying successful sellers and understanding how they approach problems. When challenges arise, experienced entrepreneurs solve the issue first and then analyze the system behind it so the problem doesn’t happen again.


Saul also explains one of the most interesting models in his business: Amazon-to-Amazon flips. The concept sounds unusual at first — buying products directly from Amazon and selling them back on the platform for profit. But when you understand the scale of Amazon’s marketplace and the pricing inefficiencies that can exist within it, the opportunity starts to make a lot more sense.
