Jonte Lee is an educator in the Washington D.C. Public Schools and is doing amazing things inside and outside of the classroom. He was born and raised in New Orleans. He transitioned from pursuing a PhD in the sciences to taking advantage of an opportunity to teach at the High School setting through a teaching program at Howard University. Jonte has been teaching at the high school and college levels since. He is the 2020 D.C. Public School Teacher of the Year.  He is a published chemistry teacher, lead teacher, and public speaker. He is also the department of defense STEM Ambassador. Since covid started he has gotten a nickname as the kitchen chemist for using his kitchen to do live science experiments through social media with his students and students all over the world. He believes that education should not be limited to four walls. He is a part of the Smithsonian and shell diversity in STEM Teaching Advisory Committee and black male educators for social justice. He has been on Good Morning America, Diane Sawyer 2020, Fox 5 DC, NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt,  ABC News Heroes of 2020, Amazon Prime's series "Regular Heroes", and featured in the Washington Post as well as CNN. Despite all of his accolades since the pandemic Jonte Lee stays true to what he does and recognizes that his most important role is that of an educator and support system for his students.
