The American Disabilities Act ensures that people with disabilities have access to public facilities in our country.
But for our brothers and sisters with an intellectual disability – those on the autism spectrium, those with Down Syndrome, or a traumatic brain injury – when it comes to ensuring opportunities for meaningful employment, independent living, and a community of enriching relationships, that’s unfortunately left to their families and caregivers.
And, thankfully, nonprofits.
