To learn how something is done or achieved, we may find it helpful to look at the thing or things that are doing or achieving that something so as to better learn how the something does what it does and achieves what it achieves. We may find it helpful to observe and model after an example that has achieved. Study the masterworks, they say. I have to agree--and not only do I agree, I've been extremely fortunate to be in a situation to study and perform with masters. Today on Progress Culture, we get a chance to pick the brain of my mentor and master musician and drummer, Paul F. Murphy. Paul has achieved at the highest levels of art and music. He has been recognized by Oxford for developing a new sound in jazz and art and has a long history of friendships and working relationships with icons and trailblazers in art including Gene Krupa, Miles Davis, Rashied Ali, Salvador Dali, Jimmy Lyons, and Cecil Taylor. We get a chance to hear how to achieve mastery through a master who came from masters!
