Dr. Nick Battista is an assistant professor of mathematics at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ). He is an applied mathematician specializing in the mathematical modeling of biological systems using a variety of techniques, including numerical simulation and physical and/or organismal experiments. Nick works on a variety of problems in biomechanics, from heart development to aquatic locomotion to collective behavior, produces open-source fluid dynamics software for the scientific community, and investigates ways to thwart the on-going opioid crisis, all with his team of undergraduates. His favorite scientists are the Ghostbusters.
