Part of Matt's story began December 28 on an annual hunt with friends and family near Eagle Lake in Mississippi. Branch and his hunting partners were loading duck hunting gear into a Polaris Ranger where Branch had laid his shotgun. A black Labrador retriever named Tito jumped in the bed of the vehicle and stepped on the gun. His paw depressed the safety and pulled the trigger.
