On a snowy Chicago winter day, while most people are bundled up indoors, Matt Conroy is out and about, ready to tackle the challenges of the day—armed with a deep dish pizza in one hand and a determination to fight for working families in the other. After all, what better way to warm up than with a slice of Chicago’s finest? As he likes to say, “If you can’t beat the cold, at least you can beat the hunger!”
In a bold move to advocate for working families, Conroy has announced his candidacy for Congress, aiming to build a government that prioritizes the needs of the people over the interests of the powerful. Born and raised in Brooklyn, his life has been shaped by personal tragedy and a commitment to service. Losing his father in the September 11 attacks instilled in him the values of perseverance, empathy, and a deep sense of duty to his community.
Conroy’s journey has taken him from the streets of Brooklyn to various corners of the world, including a stint with Habitat for Humanity in Tijuana. His diverse career spans manufacturing, technology, and finance, where he has consistently worked to bridge the gap between opportunity and justice. Now residing in Chicago with his wife, Lily, and their four beloved pets, Conroy is ready to bring his compassion and grit to Washington, D.C.
As a strategic and results-oriented Learning & Development Specialist, Conroy has a proven track record of leading teams to exceed objectives through a people-centric approach. His expertise lies in career development, impactful sales training, and customer training and support. At Side, Inc., he developed tailored materials for new hire orientation, conducted high-value agent sessions, and managed the Learning Management System, showcasing his commitment to fostering growth and development.
In his previous role as a Technology Training Specialist at Douglas Elliman Real Estate, Conroy designed comprehensive training programs for new agents, facilitated a seamless transition to remote work, and managed training logistics, ensuring that employees were equipped with the tools they needed to succeed. His tenure as Development Manager at New York Life further solidified his reputation as a leader in training and development, where he oversaw training for both recruits and experienced employees, implemented Salesforce, and contributed to recruitment and onboarding strategies.
Conroy’s earlier experience as a Registered Representative allowed him to build an extensive book of business, design financial plans, and conduct community events aimed at promoting financial literacy. His proficiency in tools like Slack, Salesforce, and Google Suite, combined with his skills in project management, client relationship management, and technical troubleshooting, make him a formidable candidate for Congress.
As he embarks on this new chapter, Matt Conroy is determined to fight for the rights of working families and ensure that their voices are heard in Washington. With his unique blend of personal experience, professional expertise, and a penchant for deep dish pizza, he is poised to make a significant impact in the lives of those he aims to serve. After all, if he can navigate the complexities of Congress as well as he navigates a Chicago winter, he’s got this in the bag!
