Matt Foyer is an American actor, writer, teacher, and musician known for his compelling work in genre storytelling, particularly in Lovecraftian horror and independent cinema. With a career spanning film, theater, and voice-over work, Foyer has earned a dedicated following for his ability to blend intellectual depth with visceral intensity. He is best recognized for his starring role as Albert Wilmarth in the H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society’s The Whisperer in Darkness (2011), where he brought to life the scholar’s descent into cosmic dread with haunting authenticity. He also appeared in The Call of Cthulhu (2005) as The Man, contributing to the Society’s acclaimed silent-film adaptation, and played David in Something Strange: 23 Peculiar Perspectives of Metaphysical Phenomena in a Modern American Age (2012).

Beyond horror, Foyer’s versatility shines in projects like the comedic Follow the Bitch (1996) and the upcoming Mistake (post-production), where he portrays Mr. Willets. His theater credits include a notable performance as Polonius in Hamlet at the Ensemble Theatre Company in Santa Barbara (February 6-23, 2025). A graduate of the California Institute of the Arts, Foyer has also worked as a voice-over artist, with credits including a scratch track for Dinosaur, and has explored music and directing. Based in Los Angeles, he balances his creative pursuits with teaching, bringing a thoughtful and multifaceted approach to his craft.
