Matt and Barton discuss the many challenges involved in addressing homelessness and how his non-profit organization Community First helps create connection, support, and purpose for people with an extended period of homelessness. They also discuss the challenges Matt faced growing up dealing with an alcoholic father and mistakes he made that led him to be “spiritually bankrupt”. Through the obstacles he faced, Matt found redemption in reuniting with his family, his relationship with God, and finding his purpose in serving others.
