Matt Gutierrez's story is one of perseverance and resilience. Despite being one of the top quarterback recruits in the nation in 2002, he struggled to see playing time during his four years at the University of Michigan. In this episode of the podcast, Gutierrez talks about his childhood in Concord, CA, where he grew up surrounded by the De La Salle football program — one of the most successful high school football programs in the country. He also discusses his time at Michigan, where he faced stiff competition for the starting quarterback position and struggled to find his place on the team. Despite the challenges he faced, Gutierrez never lost his work ethic or his determination to succeed. After going undrafted in the 2007 NFL Draft, he signed as a free agent with the New England Patriots and spent three seasons as a backup quarterback, learning from future Hall of Famer Tom Brady. Today, Gutierrez has transitioned into a successful career in commercial real estate, but credits his football experience with teaching him the value of hard work, discipline, and perseverance. His story is a testament to the power of persistence and the importance of never giving up on your dreams.
