Pastor Blaine continues in Matthew 1 showing how Joseph obeyed God even in an honor/shame culture because of who Jesus is.
Matthew 1:18-25
“Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son,
and they shall call his name Immanuel”
(which means, God with us). When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him: he took his wife, but knew her not until she had given birth to a son. And he called his name Jesus.

Jesus' divinity is a First Order issue. If Jesus was not divine, if He was not God Himself, then we are all doomed to Adam's condemnation. But He WAS God Himself, so we have the gift of salvation!
The greater measure of appreciation for Christ correlates to the measure of cost you're wiling to take on for the sake of Christ.
"Don't get caught up in the worldly rhythms of Christmas and miss appreciating what this season is truly supposed to be about--the person and work of Jesus Christ. Pause and take a moment to enjoy the Christ, God incarnate, who came to save us from our sins. And the fruit of our appreciation leads us to costly obedience."
