Jesus's parable of the wedding banquet as a rebuke to the religious leaders

who rejected God's invitation to His kingdom. The parable illustrates the

historic rejection of God's invitations by the initially invited, the

subsequent broad invitation to all, and the essential requirement of

accepting God's provided "wedding garment" of righteousness for entry into

His kingdom.
