The message of the Cross and what Jesus accomplished there is the central theme of the Bible and of all history. Today we covered Matthew’s version of Jesus’ death, and brought in all 7 of the sayings of Jesus from the cross, although Matthew only recorded on of them. The rest of the chapter attests to the miraculous events that also took place when Jesus died, and the effects those things had on the soldiers and the centurion who were watching over Jesus at the cross, and how they admitted, “Truly, this was The Son of God!”
