Matthew 9:9-13 is the text for this sermon entitled, "Jesus Calls Matthew."

The calling of Matthew, the tax collector, as one of his own disciples in a most intriguing insight into Jesus’ mindset about discipleship. E33This is also a model for the church.  Jesus quotes from Hosea 6:6 and tells everyone to go and learn what it means. At its very core, the gospel message is one of God’s mercy. Let us dive into the story and see what we are to learn about discipleship, the church’s mission, and mercy/forgiveness as the core of the gospel message.
