Matthew’s opening verse makes it very clear what this book is about: Jesus, the Messiah, the son of David, the son of Abraham. The rest of this Gospel presents evidence of who Jesus is: God incarnate, the Father’s beloved Son, living among men. The king, declaring that the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Mark records Jesus’ life: His miracles, betrayal, death, resurrection, and commission. However, Mark’s Gospel is very brief and focuses more on things Jesus did than things Jesus said.
