The death of John the Baptist was a great tragedy. He was a great man killed in an unjust way by a wicked ruler, his ruthless wife and at the whim of a dancing girl. And yet in his life, and even in his death, John points us ultimately to the hope of Jesus - a hope that remains in the midst of suffering and tragedy, and a hope is ours through faith.
